Grant Description
Description: The purpose of this award is to provide funding under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
The recipient will implement greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction programs, policies, projects, and measures identified in a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) developed under a Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) planning grant.
Activities conducted through this grant will benefit all residents and visitors to Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community through four main objectives:
Implementation of ambitious measures that will achieve significant cumulative GHG reductions by 2030 and beyond;
Pursuit of measures that will achieve substantial community benefits, particularly in low-income and disadvantaged communities;
Complementing other funding sources to maximize these GHG reductions and community benefits; and,
Pursuit of innovative policies and programs that are replicable and can be 'scaled up' across multiple jurisdictions.
This agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $9,753,810.
Preaward costs have been approved back to 12/1/24.
Activities: The activities include fleet vehicle electrification, construction of EV charging stations, conducting home energy audits, completing building retrofits, lawn and garden equipment efficiency replacements, solar parking canopy installations, landfill gas reuse as clean fleet vehicle fuel, and carbon sequestration through land buyback, tree planting, and improving agricultural soil management practices.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include a report documenting the transparent greenhouse gas emission reduction estimates based on high-quality, thorough, reasonable, and comprehensive methodologies, assumptions, and calculations.
The expected outcomes include greenhouse gas, criteria air pollutant, and hazardous air pollutant emissions reductions.
The intended beneficiaries include the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, future generations, and visitors to the community.
