Description:
This agreement provides assistance to the state of California's underground storage tank program in leak detection, prevention, and related enforcement.
The objectives of this program include: (1) encouraging owners and operators to properly operate and maintain their underground storage tanks; (2) ensuring owners and operators monitor underground storage tanks in accordance with the regulations; and (3) developing the state program to operate in lieu of the federal program. These objectives protect the environment by preventing petroleum and hazardous substance releases.
This amendment provides partial federal funding in the amount of $98,500 and includes $6,420,000 in EPA in-kind support through an interagency agreement (IA) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for contractual support. See terms and conditions.

Outcomes:
Anticipated deliverables include semi-annual reporting and LUST4 semi-annual data reporting to include number of inspections completed and technical compliance rate (TCR) data for the facilities inspected. The grantee is expected to use grant funds to manage their leak prevention program to protect the environment by preventing petroleum and hazardous substance releases.
