Description:
This agreement provides funding to the Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians to carry out its program to maintain, protect, and improve the water quality of its rivers, lakes, streams, groundwater, and other waterbodies. The environmental benefits of this program include preventing degradation of unimpaired waterbodies and reducing the number of impaired waterbodies on tribal lands.
This agreement provides federal funding in the amount of $60,035.
Activities:
Activities to be performed include water quality monitoring at 5 surface water sites and 6 groundwater sites. Public outreach will be conducted to increase involvement and environmental knowledge within the community. Analyzing water samples and assessing the health of the water bodies on the reservation. An annual assessment report for surface water will be prepared, and a water quality assessment report will be submitted along with the data collected. The Wellhead Protection Program will be followed to improve groundwater quality, and public outreach and education will be performed.

Anticipated deliverables include handout materials and newsletters, correspondence with homeowners regarding monitoring results and protection of groundwater supplies.
