Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
With this funding, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality is proposing to target PM2.5 (particulate matter), nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and volatile organic compound emissions through a heavy-duty diesel vehicle replacement program.
This diesel emission reduction program is designed to replace Class 5-8 heavy-duty diesel vehicles in the Logan, Utah 24-hour PM2.5 nonattainment area. The Provo and Salt Lake City 24-hour PM2.5 nonattainment areas will benefit as well, as the affected vehicles will also travel through these areas.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality proposes to partner with the Utah Trucking Association, Utah General Contractors Association, and the Utah Home Builders Association to create an incentive program that results in notable emission reductions from Class 5-8 medium and heavy-duty local delivery truck routes.
Both public and private fleets will be eligible, with a 50% incentive provided for vehicles in the public fleets and a 25% incentive provided for vehicles in the private fleets.
