Description:
This action provides funding in the amount of $1,000,075.00 to the State of Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) for the operation of Alabama's continuing environmental programs. The purpose of this funding is to give ADEM greater flexibility to address its highest environmental priorities, improve environmental performance, achieve administrative savings, and strengthen the partnership between ADEM and EPA. The agreement will fund statewide programs to support air, water, and land.
Activities:
Activities performed include, but are not limited to, issuing permits, conducting inspections, evaluating compliance, enforcement actions, monitoring and data reporting, and providing training and technical assistance for various environmental programs such as air quality, beach monitoring, public water supply systems, underground injection control, water quality, brownfields, RCRA, PCB, and the exchange network.
Subrecipient:
No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes:
Expected outputs/outcomes include timely and appropriate enforcement actions, facilities having adequate permits and controls in place, collecting and reporting quality data, all to support the goal of a cleaner, healthier environment. These efforts will reduce risk, improve environmental protection, and restore and support recreational and public health issues that contribute to healthy economies. The direct beneficiaries of this program are the citizens of the State of Alabama.
