Description:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide funding in the amount of $2,592,888 for the operation of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management's Continuing Environmental Programs (CEP). The agreement aims to give greater flexibility to address the department's highest environmental priorities, improve environmental performance, achieve administrative savings, and strengthen the partnership between Alabama and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This agreement will fund statewide programs within the Bureaus of Air, Water, and Land. Activities to be performed include, but are not limited to, issuing permits, conducting inspections, evaluating compliance, providing technical assistance, reporting data, monitoring air quality, and taking enforcement actions. The expected outcomes of these activities include timely and appropriate enforcement actions, facilities having adequate permits and controls in place, collecting and reporting quality data, all to support the goal of a cleaner, healthier environment. The direct beneficiaries of this program are the citizens of the state of Alabama.
Activities:
Activities performed include, but are not limited to, issuing permits, conducting inspections, evaluating compliance, enforcement actions, monitoring and data reporting, and providing training and technical assistance for various programs such as air quality monitoring, beach monitoring, PWDD, PFAS, UIC, water quality monitoring, brownfields, RCRA, PCB, exchange network, and multipurpose.
Outcomes:
Expected outputs/outcomes include timely and appropriate enforcement actions, facilities having adequate permits and controls in place, collecting and reporting quality data, all to support the goal of a cleaner, healthier environment. These efforts will reduce risk, improve environmental protection, and restore and support recreational and public health issues that contribute to healthy economies. The direct beneficiaries of this program are the citizens of the state of Alabama.
