Grant Description
Description: This bipartisan infrastructure law (also known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) grant provides funding to GreenPower of WV, LLC to replace existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.
Activities: The activities include replacing 50 diesel school buses with 50 new zero-emission electric school buses and 50 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Level 3 charging infrastructures.
The new school buses will serve seven school districts throughout West Virginia: Kanawha County Schools, Lewis County Schools, Calhoun County Schools, Clay County Schools, Grant County Schools, Monongalia County Schools, and Cabell County Schools.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include replacing 50 diesel school buses with 50 new zero-emission electric school buses that transport more than 5,000 students across seven West Virginia school districts: Kanawha County Schools, Lewis County Schools, Calhoun County Schools, Clay County Schools, Grant County Schools, Monongalia County Schools, and Cabell County Schools.
Other deliverables include providing drivers, mechanics, and public safety officials with ongoing training and materials on how to properly operate and maintain the zero-emission buses (ZEB) and chargers and both engaging and educating the community on the benefits of ZEBs.
The expected outcomes include reducing emissions, saving fuel, improving air quality, and reducing absenteeism.
The intended beneficiaries include Kanawha County Schools, Lewis County Schools, Calhoun County Schools, Clay County Schools, Grant County Schools, Monongalia County Schools, and Cabell County Schools, as well as local school children and communities surrounding the school.
