Grant Description
Description: This bipartisan infrastructure law (also known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) funded grant to the Board of Education of Montgomery County is to replace 50 existing school buses with clean and zero emission (ZE) school buses.
Activities: The activities include replacing 50 diesel buses with zero emission buses and installing 20 DC fast chargers.
The new school buses will serve Montgomery County School District.
Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables include the replacement of 50 diesel buses with zero emission buses and includes installing 20 DC fast chargers.
This school district includes 209 schools.
This project will serve more than 3,900 students at two out of five bus depot locations in the district.
Deliverables also include training for drivers and mechanics.
The expected outcomes include reduced emissions, fuel savings, improved air quality, and reduced asthma-induced absenteeism.
Outcomes also include extended lifespan of buses, improved safety through proper maintenance, community engagement through increased public awareness of benefits of ZEBs.
They also plan to track air quality by monitoring before and after ZEBs are deployed.
The intended beneficiaries include Montgomery County School District, school children, and the surrounding Montgomery County communities.
