Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Puerto Rico Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.

Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include launching a digital literacy and skills initiative, providing digital literacy skills for residents, offering digital inclusion activities to the largest employers of Puerto Rico, and funding the Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS) to oversee continuing education and training of IT personnel of the Government of Puerto Rico concerning cybersecurity.

Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in increased percentage of participants with digital literacy skills, increased percentage of public employees proficient in basic digital skills, and an increased number of telemedicine consultations.

Intended beneficiaries: Residents of Puerto Rico and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.

Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
