CFDA Narrative Excerpt: The purpose of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) International Disaster Assistance (IDA) program is to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance—including food, water, shelter, emergency healthcare, and other critical aid—to the world’s most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach population affected by natural, man-made and complex disaster. BHA is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance, harnessing the expertise and unique capacities of other U.S. government, non-U.S. entities & public international organizations (PIOs) to effectively respond to natural disasters, complex crises by providing emergency and food assistance around the world.

Recipient: Danish Refugee Council (DRC)
This award will provide financial support to the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) for a program entitled, “Multi-Sectorial Emergency Response to Conflict Affected Populations in Burkina Faso” in Burkina Faso. The theory of change is if DRC, A2N and HI (I) facilitates crisis-affected (displaced and host) people’s rights to access to livelihoods, to drinking water and improved sanitation, to safe and dignified shelters and NFI, and to basic services, restored social connections and tailored individual protection assistance (IPA) and case management (II) promotes hygiene and protection behavioral change awareness and prevention, then, conflict and displacement affected communities will have reduced vulnerabilities, enhanced knowledge and capacities and increased community protection environment. Together this will contribute to the long-term impact of ensuring conflict and displacement affected communities live in dignity and safety and develop their resilience to shocks. The total number of beneficiaries estimated to be supported under this award is 97,004 individuals.
