CFDA Narrative Excerpt: The purpose of USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) is to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance—including food, water, shelter, emergency healthcare, and other critical aid—to the world's most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach population affected by natural, man-made, and complex disasters. BHA is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance, harnessing the expertise and unique capacities of other U.S. government, non-U.S. entities, and public international organizations to effectively respond to natural disasters and complex crises by providing emergency and food assistance around the world.
BHA takes a holistic approach to humanitarian aid, providing assistance before, during, and after a crisis—from readiness and response to relief and recovery. This includes non-emergency programming that is foundational to linking humanitarian assistance to long-term development and the journey to self-reliance.
Recipient – World Food Program (UNWFP)
The purpose of this award is to provide support for WFP's program in Northeast Nigeria. Specifically, this award will provide food and nutrition assistance support to beneficiaries by:
1) Approving a contribution of 2,080 metric tons (MT) of FY 22 Title II commodities, including corn-soy blend plus (bag-HP-25 kg) and emergency FD, RUSF (pouch-105/100g) commodities transferred from USDA.
2) Obligating $2,385,276 in internal transport, storage, and handling (ITSH) funds.
3) Obligating $894,354 in Section 202(e) funds.
