Overview
Grant Description
AWARDING AGENCY: U.S. Agency for International Development
CFDA Listing / Assistance Listing: 98.001 – USAID Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas
CFDA Narrative Excerpt: The purpose of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) is to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance—including food, water, shelter, emergency healthcare, and other critical aid—to the world’s most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach population affected by natural, man-made, and complex disasters. BHA is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance activities, harnessing the expertise and unique capacities of other U.S. government, non-U.S. entities, and public international organizations to effectively respond to natural disasters and complex crises by providing emergency humanitarian and food assistance around the world.
Recipient: Family Health International (FHI 360)
This award will provide financial support to Family Health International (FHI 360) for a program entitled "Strengthening Humanitarian Response and Sustainability in Nigeria – (SURE-SN)" in Nigeria. The theory of change is that if conflict-affected and displaced people have access to available, acceptable, and quality essential healthcare; and if nutrition services prevent illness and help children recover from malnutrition; and if access to and utilization of WASH services prevent waterborne disease; and if increased access to psychosocial support (PSS) services and integrated GBV and CP support can mitigate the protection-related risks; and if access to economic opportunities and support can improve vulnerable groups' wellbeing and resilience, then the conflict-affected and displaced communities will achieve a higher standard of well-being based on identified multi-sector purpose to integrate services and resilience in conflict-affected and displaced communities with health, nutrition, WASH, and protection services as the most critical lifesaving, sustainable priorities for the program.
The total number of beneficiaries that will be supported under this grant is 238,336 individuals.
