CFDA Narrative Excerpt: The purpose of USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) is to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance—including food, water, shelter, emergency healthcare, and other critical aid—to the world's most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach population affected by natural, man-made, and complex disasters. BHA is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance, harnessing the expertise and unique capacities of other U.S. government, non-U.S. entities, and public international organizations to effectively respond to natural disasters, complex crises, and food insecurity around the world. BHA takes a holistic look at humanitarian aid, providing assistance before, during, and after a crisis—from readiness and response to relief and recovery. This includes non-emergency programming that is foundational to linking humanitarian assistance to long-term development and the journey to self-reliance.
Recipient – Action Contre la Faim (ACF)
This award will provide financial support to Action Contre la Faim for a program entitled, "Stabilizing Crisis-Affected and Vulnerable Households in Mwenezi and Chiredzi Districts, Zimbabwe, through Strengthened Livelihoods" in Zimbabwe. The goal is to strengthen resilient livelihoods and self-reliance of households vulnerable to the multifaceted crisis in Zimbabwe through improved household production, access to diversified income sources, sanitation and water services, and anticipatory actions to potential crises in rural areas of Mwenezi and Chiredzi Districts. The total number of beneficiaries that will be supported under this award is 32,895 individuals.
