Overview
Grant Description
AWARDING AGENCY: U.S. Agency for International Development
CFDA Listing/Assistance Listing: 98.007 – USAID Food for Peace Development Assistance Program (DAP)
CFDA Narrative Excerpt: The purpose of USAID's Food for Peace DAP is to improve access, availability, and utilization of food in food insecure environments abroad. The priority for Title II development programs is a focus on improving household nutrition and health status, especially in children and mothers, and on increasing agricultural productivity, including field production, post-harvest handling and transformation, and marketing.
Recipient: Save the Children Federation, Inc. (SCF)
This award will provide financial support to Save the Children Federation, Inc. for a program entitled "Mozambique Okhokelamo RFSA" in Mozambique. The program's primary aim is to contribute to sustainably break the intergenerational nature of malnutrition and stunted growth. SCF and consortium partners will develop a comprehensive theory of change (TOC) that identifies the critical pathways to address the underlying causes of intergenerational child malnutrition and its long-term impact on human development.
Okhokelamo's approach prioritizes the most limiting factors to sustainably improving nutrition in each of the three life stages. The approach focuses on pregnant and lactating women (PLW), caregivers of children under 2 (CU2), and adolescent & youth (ages 10-24). The activity will work with a total of 300 communities, or an average of fifty (50) per district.
