Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The purpose of USAID/Ghana School Feeding Activity is to provide school meals to students in LCPS participating in the APIL activity in Northern Ghana.
This short-term activity is not an open commitment to a long-term school feeding program but rather meant to address the increased food insecurity in USAID’s zone of influence, which is exacerbated by the recent macroeconomic crisis.
This intervention will address malnutrition and short-term hunger, serve as an incentive for increased enrollment and attendance, and improve their ability to learn in the classroom.
The activity will also benefit local farmers through the procurement of locally sourced food items for school meals.
The farmers will have ready markets for their farm produce, thus encouraging farmers to grow more nutritious food and earn steady incomes.
