Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
The purpose of the USAID/Ghana Accelerating Social and Behavior Change (ASBC) activity is to increase and sustain the adoption of healthy behaviors and practices for improved health outcomes. The focus areas include family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), malaria prevention and treatment, maternal, newborn, and child health, community and household level water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) practices, nutrition, and public health emergencies such as COVID-19.
This activity builds on previous USAID/Ghana investments in social and behavior change (SBC) over the last ten years. These investments have resulted in a strong partnership and collaboration with the Ghana Health Service/Health Promotion Division. Notable gains made in the past decade include:
1. Support to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to establish a pre-service program that produced district-level technical health promotion officers.
2. Strengthening of the Ghana Health Service's initiated hallmark GoodLife brand. Over the last five years, over 77,000 GoodLife, Live It Well campaigns and programs have been rolled out via mass media to improve health behaviors and increase demand for health services.
3. Establishment of the National Resource Center and e-library, serving as a repository of SBC resources to enhance access to materials by service providers and professionals.
4. Establishment of the Social and Behavior Change Communication Technical Working Group to ensure the technical accuracy of all SBC materials developed in the country.
