Grant Description
The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to provide support in promoting market-based solutions that improve smallholder farmer livelihoods, reduce vulnerability to climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and land and forest degradation, with the activity entitled Landscape Approach to Sustainable and Climate Change Resilient Cocoa and Coffee Agroforestry (USAID LASCARCOCO).

Funding Goals
LASCARCOCO AND ITS PARTNERS WILL COLLABORATE IN NORTH SUMATRA, SOUTH SULAWESI AND EAST NUSA TENGGARA PROVINCES TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE COCOA AND COFFEE AGROFORESTRY PRACTICES THAT ADDRESS BOTH CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION, WHILE IMPROVING SMALLHOLDER FARMER LIVELIHOODS. SPECIFICALLY, LASCARCOCO’S GOALS ARE (I) TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH AGROFORESTRY PRACTICES IN COCOA AND COFFEE PRODUCING LANDSCAPES; AND (II) TO IMPROVE THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF RURAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH INCREASED MARKET ACCESS AND CLIMATE CHANGE RESILIENCE.
