Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: Photothermal spectroscopy corporation proposes to develop, validate, and commercialize gigahertz optical photothermal infrared, a new instrument for the semiconductor industry for high-speed thermal properties analysis and simultaneous chemical characterization with sub-micron spatial resolution.
Activities to be performed: Utilizing the new instrument, the awardee will create a platform for simultaneous chemical analysis and thermal property measurement; measure thermal transients in semiconductor materials and then validate thermophysical models in collaboration with NIST.
Expected outcomes: The instrument should improve thermal properties analysis and chemical characterization.
Intended beneficiaries: The U.S. semiconductor manufacturing community through improved thermal management and thermal property characterization resulting from their instrument.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient plans to subaward funds to aid in the validation of their instrument developed under this project.
