Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The project includes improvements at various locations on the LSRC Huron Subdivision between Alpena, Michigan and Pinconning, Michigan.
The project will replace approximately 52 miles of jointed rail with continuous welded rail, replace crossties, improve 34 highway-rail crossings, upgrade signals at 13 crossings, and replace turnouts.
These track improvements will reduce rail defects and ensure safe and reliable transportation for Michigan communities and businesses.
Improvements at grade crossings will enhance safety at a critical interface with the public.
Improvements include upgrades to active warning devices where LED flashers are not already installed, thus improving drive notification of oncoming trains.
