Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This project seeks to perform preliminary engineering, NEPA and final design activities necessary to eliminate an at-grade crossing where Rittiman Road and Union Pacific's rail line intersect and to build a four-lane grade separation overpass with a sidewalk over the Union Pacific Railroad Glidden Subdivision in San Antonio, Texas.
The City of San Antonio (Recipient) will complete the following deliverables: a project management plan, final performance report, environmental documentation, preliminary engineering and final design documents.
Project upgrades will eliminate issues with vehicular traffic encountering trains blocking the crossing multiple times per day due to high train volume and rail operations in the nearby UPRR Kirby Yard.
The grade separation project will also address travel delay concerns and prevent approximately 47% of the crashes in the area.
