Grant Description
The Boston Albany Corridor would connect Boston, MA, and Albany, NY, via Springfield, MA.
The proposed corridor would provide up to eight daily round-trip passenger trains on an existing alignment that is currently being used by AMTRAK's long-distance Lake Shore Limited.
The corridor sponsor will develop a service development plan based on the successful completion of the Corridor ID Step 1 scope, schedule and budget necessary to complete the Step 2 SDP.
The proposed corridor will improve service to communities throughout western Massachusetts, connecting to Albany and Boston metropolitan areas.

Funding Goals
THE BOSTON AND ALBANY CORRIDOR WILL DEVELOP A SERVICE DEVELOPMENT PLAN THE SDP WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FEASIBILITY OF A BOSTON TO ALBANY INTERCITY PASSENGER RAIL ROUTE AND IT WILL DETAIL THE NECESSARY STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THE SERVICE. IMPROVING SERVICE ON THE BOSTON AND ALBANY CORRIDOR WILL INCREASE SERVICE TO CITIES THAT HAVE A DEMONSTRATED DEMAND FOR INTERCITY RAIL SERVICE THE BOSTON AND ALBANY CORRIDOR WILL PROVIDE NEEDED CONNECTIONS FOR THE EXISTING AMTRAK NETWORK IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND BY CONNECTING TO ALL OTHER INTERCITY CORRIDORS IN NEW ENGLAND
