Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The NEC fencing program is to conduct a programmatic National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) corridor study and an NEC corridor-wide survey that will generate information needed to inform future fence installation at sites vulnerable to, and at elevated risk for trespassing incidents.
Trespassing incidents present significant safety risks and challenges, including accidents and fatalities that result in train delays, damage, and loss of revenue.
As a result of the study and survey to be conducted under the project, future fence installation will be better planned, streamlined, and result in increased safety for communities that Amtrak operates in and through.
The recipient will conduct project management and administration, programmatic NEPA corridor study and an NEC corridor survey.
Upon completion, the recipient will deliver to the FRA a project management plan, the required NEPA documentation and an NEC corridor survey report.
