Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
The Grant Agreement funds the Grantee, Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT), to complete a full life cycle grant.

This includes an environmental review, preliminary engineering design set, final design set, and construction in collaboration with Class I railway company Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.

The project requires right-of-way appraisal, acquisition of real property, and relocation of utilities.

The project will construct a grade-separated highway interchange and rail overpass to eliminate one at-grade intersection and realign the eastbound U.S. 60 lanes.

An outer road will be constructed on the south side of the BNSF Railway, allowing for the consolidation and closure of eight at-grade rail crossings (four public and four private).

The improvements will result in five partial access intersection closures.

An outer road will be constructed on the north side of U.S. 60, allowing for the closure of two full-access at-grade highway intersections.

Upon completion, the project will reduce the number of crashes due to crossing closures and decrease the severity of crashes near the partial access intersection closures.

Ultimately, the project will improve rail operations and increase safety for trains, vehicles, and pedestrians while enhancing the quality of life and providing economic benefits for the state, region, and country.
