Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The project will generate additional rail capacity and improve safety along TKEN by making track improvements on the TKEN mainline.
The project will A) replace approximately five miles of rail, and B) replace approximately 53,500 ties and surface approximately 42.6 miles of track.
Upon the rehabilitation of track mainline, TKEN will be able to accommodate an increase in tonnage and demand along the line.
This upgrade will also enable TKEN to return their operations to FRA Class I with higher travel speeds, thus making the track safer and more efficient.
By increasing capacity, this track rehabilitation effort will further economic growth, improve sustainability, and substantially benefit the communities that this section of the railway services.
The Class III railroad interchanges with Canadian National in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the Port of Hickman in Hickman, Kentucky, and is soon to be connected with the Port of Cates Landing in Tiptonville, TN.
