Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The objective of this project is to complete project development, final design, and construction which will remedy, prevent degradation, and eliminate the need for the recipient to route traffic over a long route by converting jointed rail to continuous welded rail between milepost 1.51 and 33.33.
The elimination of joints between rails creates a continuous, smooth rail surface that increases safety and speed with reduced maintenance costs. Benefits of the project include reduced fuel consumption, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and promotes the recycling of materials.
Improvements will benefit highway motorists, residents, Red River Valley Western Railroad Company, soybean and grain producers and consumers, bio-fuels refiners, and more.
