Grant Description
The project involves the replacement and upgrade of five miles of NEC mainline track from Class 3 to Class 5 to support higher speeds, improved ride quality, and rail traffic mitigation during required track outages associated with the Baltimore and Potomac (B P) Tunnel Replacement Program (formerly known as the B P Tunnel Project).

The project deliverables include final design and construction of five miles of track upgrades, removal of an existing turnout, and installation of a high-speed turnout.

Amtrak is the primary railroad beneficiary but MDOT MTA, CSX, and NS will also receive benefits.
