Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The purpose of this grant is to perform analytical, strategic planning, and administrative support to implement PRIIA Section 209 (the project). These services will facilitate and support the relationship between state SAIPRC members, Amtrak, and FRA.
The primary focus of SAIPRCs work is the PRIIA 209 cost allocation policy, which includes ongoing and major revisions to the existing policy and its continuous implementation. Each year, SAIPRC develops an annual work plan to guide activities that will support these shared objectives. Per SAIPRCs bylaws, the members hold four, full-committee meetings per year to conduct committee business, collaborate, and review progress.
In addition, the members have formed a series of subgroups, which meet more frequently, and are responsible for executing a smaller portfolio of SAIPRC activities and analytical tasks. These subgroups include the Costing Subcommittee, Marketing Working Group (WG), Equipment WG, and Cost Sharing WG, and can be revised to address emerging needs over time. The grant outcomes include the continued growth and success of intercity passenger rail, including driving economic growth through improved mobility, growing ridership and revenue, improving customer service, fostering collaboration, and ensuring fiscal accountability and efficiency.
Amtrak, FRA, and state sponsors of Amtrak service will benefit from the analytical, strategic planning, and administrative support provided by SAIPRC, and passengers on Amtrak state supported routes will benefit from the continued growth and success of these intercity passenger rail services.
