Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
The project will improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of passenger and freight traffic along the PNWRC, avoiding or minimizing service interruptions between MP 24.68 to MP 25.52 resulting from slope failures (landslides).

This project will: (1) build three catchment walls, totaling approximately 3,200 linear feet, to reduce the risk of slide debris reaching the tracks and (2) improves the alert system that notifies dispatchers and train crews of a possible track intrusion in the case that slide debris does reach the track.

Once completed, the project will improve PNWRC reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and improve safety for passenger and freight service.
