Overview

Grant Description
The project replaces two existing Norfolk Southern Railway (NSRR) structures with four new structures, each designed for two tracks. Two structures will be used by NSRR upon project completion. The other two structures will be used in the future after UPRR and Amtrak relocate to the 10th St corridor. This relocation is expected to occur by December 31, 2025, per the Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the Illinois Department of Transportation, City of Springfield, and Sangamon County dated August 6, 2020.

The project also includes utility relocation, NS force account work, and grading in the project area.
