Grant Description
Award purpose - Rutgers University CAIT - Research on the use of steel slag in cement and concrete.

Establish research on the properties and effectiveness of steel slag (S SLAG) to be used in concrete/cement and as construction material for transportation infrastructure.

OST-RS Office of Research, Development and Technology (RD&T) is pursuing a research initiative on the use of steel slag in cement and concrete set forth in House Appropriations Committee Report #117-402 accompanying the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (H.R. 2617, P. L. 117-328).

Deliverables: There are six proposed steps for the project.

Each step has deliverables that will inform the next step research and expected outcomes.

This will result in multiple reports and research compendium on the slag usage by the industry.

Intended beneficiaries - tax payers, general public, steel manufacturers, cement manufacturers, academia, and USG.

Sub-recipients - Oregon State University, University of Florida, and NJIT.
