EMERGENCY REPAIR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT. :::: PROJECT DESCRIPTION: THIS IS AN EMERGENCY REPAIR PROJECT TO RE-ESTABLISH MCDOWELL COUNTY BRIDGE 44 (STATE BRIDGE 580044 / FEDERAL STRUCTURE 1110044) OVER CURTIS CREEK ON US 70 (EAST MAIN STREET) NEAR OLD FORT. THIS BRIDGE FAILED AS A RESULT OF HURRICANE HELENE FLOODWATERS. THE EMERGENCY REPAIR WORK IS BEING COMPLETED VIA EXPRESS DESIGN BUILD CONTRACT C205021 TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED BRIDGE AND RESTORE ESSENTIAL TRAFFIC ON US 70 AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THE CONTRACT ALSO INCLUDES A FEMA COMPONENT TO REPLACE MCDOWELL COUNTY BRIDGE 90 (STATE BRIDGE 580090 / FEDERAL STRUCTURE 1110090) OVER MILL CREEK ON SR 1407 (MILL CREEK ROAD).
