Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Project title: US 61-X: N. 22nd St. - US 61
Project description:
Scope: The purpose of this MOVEBR project is to improve US 61-X (Florida Blvd) from N. 22nd Street to US 61 (Airline Highway).
This project has absorbed and will incorporate improvements (mill, patch, and overlay) currently planned for the DOTD pavement preservation project H.013733 (US 61-X: Foster Dr - I-110).
The MOVEBR project will also include the reconstruction of existing sidewalks to meet current ADA guidelines, including the addition of curb ramps, crosswalks, additional sidewalk to improve connectivity, and other ADA compliant features as required.
Existing transit stops will be relocated as needed to meet DOTD requirements.
A new street lighting system and/or upgrading the existing system will be evaluated.
Localized drainage/flooding issues will be addressed in the preliminary engineering phase by determining the adequacy of the existing subsurface system from N. Acadian Thruway to Foster Drive and making recommendations for drainage improvements as needed.
Signal timing to improve traffic flow and geometric modifications at signalized intersections to improve pedestrian safety will be investigated.
This may include widening the medians to provide pedestrian refuge between opposing travel lanes.
The addition of bicycle paths in both directions, utilizing either the existing shoulder or as a separate bike lane adjacent to the roadway, is desired and will be incorporated where feasible.
