Grant Description
Award Purpose
The project includes the construction of a roughly 406 foot stone breakwall which will serve to protect the existing ferry dock and a new standby ferry berth on the inner wall of the breakwall which will provide a ramp and tie point to berth a ferry for maintenance and act as an alternative landing point to load and unload passengers, vehicles, and cargo should the main dock be unavailable due to repairs or heavy weather.
Activities to be performed
Miller Boat Line will support all of the following components as a subrecipient to the recipient.
The project will be completed with the following components:
Component 1: Design, engineering, permitting, and construction administration
Complete detailed design and engineering of the breakwall and standby ferry berth.
Prepare and submit all required permits for construction activities to the relevant authorities.
Provide construction administration services including inspections and project closeout activities.
Component 2: Construction
Construct an approximately 406 foot stone breakwall.
Construct an approximately 200 foot ferry berth on the inner wall of the breakwall with ramp and tie point.
Deliverables
Expected outcomes from Schedule G, page 10 of the grant agreement.
Measure vessel calls.
Category and description: Total vessel calls per year measures the number of vessels calling to the project study area.
Must be reported in total and disaggregated by any of the following where applicable: vessel type (e.g., container, bulk, RO-RO, LNG), freight capacity, vessel length, or other.
Measurement frequency: Quarterly.
Measure cargo volume.
Category and description: Cargo volume measures the movement of freight through the project study area.
When applicable, report the total cargo volume and the volume disaggregated by type of freight (i.e., containers in TEU and bulk in tons or type of intermodal transport: truck or rail).
Measurement frequency: Quarterly.
Intended beneficiary: Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority.
Subrecipient activities: None.
