Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Award Purpose
The project adds new features to an existing cargo dock to include an open cell sheet pile bulkhead, fender piles, and breasting dolphins.
Additionally, the project will include a concrete roll on roll off (RORO) ramp, fill, armor rock mooring fenders, bullrail, bollards, and cleats.
Activities to be Performed
The HMIC cargo dock will consist of approximately 330 linear feet of sheet pile adjacent to and within the footprint of the existing gravel barge landing.
Approximately 542 sheet piles will make up an open cell structure and approximately 21,160 square feet (SF) and 23,220 cubic yards (CY) of armor rock, shot rock surfacing course, and concrete fill will be placed to make up the cargo dock.
The cargo dock will also include the installation of a barge RORO ramp on the dock deck, five fender piles, and three breasting dolphins—one southeast of the dock and two northwest of the dock.
The scope of work is broken up into the following elements under one component:
Element 1: Project Administration, Contract Administration, Environmental Permitting, Fabrication, and Construction Inspection Services.
Element 2: Construction of Marine Industrial Center Harbor Project, Construction Survey, Contractor Mobilization and Demobilization, Mine Uplands Fill Material Source, Stabilize Cut Area and Create Required Drainage, Sheet Pile Bulkhead Dock and RORO Ramp Install, approximately 330 linear feet of sheet pile to create the open cell structure, place and compact approximately 23,220 CY of engineering fill material behind the sheet piles, construct a 40 by 75 RORO barge ramp, breasting and mooring improvements, bulkhead fender assembly, bulkhead mooring bollards and cleats, ramp mooring bollards, bullrail and cleats, installation of 5 fender dolphins, installation of 3 barge breasting dolphins, lighting utility installation.
