Grant Description
Award purpose
This project includes studies, site design and engineering, site investigations, and permitting activities for a heavy lift marine terminal facility at the Redwood Marine Terminal (RMT) to support offshore wind farm development.
The project also includes creation of a baywide master plan, project management, and grant administration.
Activities to be performed
The objectives of the RMT heavy lift wind terminal elements of the project are to complete all remaining required special studies and data collection efforts, advance the already in progress design engineering from 10 percent to greater than 30 percent complete, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and permitting, and complete final design for the site's access roads and required habitat mitigation.
The purpose of the baywide master plan element of the project is to look beyond the RMT site, identify other potential offshore wind energy related projects within Humboldt Bay, and determine other West Coast and regional needs that Humboldt Bay can satisfy.
