Grant Description
Award Purpose

The project funds the construction of an expanded steel sheet pile bulkhead, installation of stone rip rap, a new rail siding with improvements to an existing railroad crossing, improvements to an existing laydown area, dredging with onsite upland disposal, paving, installation of new utilities, fencing with site lighting, access improvements, and the necessary environmental remediation associated with these various project elements.

Activities to be performed all stages of construction including design, permitting, procurement of materials, and construction will be performed by MOHAWK as a subrecipient to the recipient.

The following describes how the work will be tracked and the approximate quantities that are included in each item.

Project management and general conditions.

Project permitting and design.

Dredging and stabilizing, with approximately 62,908 cubic yards of material to be dredged.

Bulkhead backfill with approximately 62,184 cubic yards of material to be backfilled.

Open cell sheet pile bulkhead including installation of approximately 2,508 units.

Approximately 4,726 square yards of concrete paving and aggregate base.

Mooring bollards cleats exact number to be determined by final design.

Fender piles exact number to be determined by final design.

Anodes exact number to be determined by final design.

Installation of approximately 2,880 tons of armor stone.

Clearing and removals.

Approximately 23,870 square yards of asphalt paving and aggregate base.

Security fencing and gates.

Utilities this work routing of utilities will be tracked by the installed utility as a linear foot item with 5,100 units included.

Installation of an approximately 800-foot rail spur.

Environmental remediation with approximately 2,970 tons of dredged material to be relocated on site for permanent stabilization.

Deliverables expected outcomes performance measure table from schedule G page 11 of the grant agreement.

Maritime cargo volume by tonnage recipient will measure total tons of cargo armor stone, large rip rap, sand and gravel, fabricated construction materials, and demolition debris transported across the bulkhead by different types of intermodal transport i.e., rail or truck.

Vessel type and or freight capacity of the vessels calling to the area defined in the project study area.
