Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Award Purpose
The project improves the Port of Stockton's lead track by the replacement or upgrade of approximately 13400 feet of existing rail and ballast realignment of curves and reconstruction of roughly thirty turnouts.
The project also includes site clearing, grading, drainage, and utility work.
Activities to be Performed
The project consists of the following activities to bolster the port's lead track in both the East Complex and the West Complex: engineering, permitting, inspection, upgrading approximately 13400 track feet of 112 lb yd rail with new 136lb per yd continuous welded rail on all curves, improving track drainage at key locations, realigning compound curve rail with single radius curves, regrading approximately 3500 feet of track to provide ballast walkway for maintenance access, installing wood ties on curves versus concrete ties to reduce wear, testing all tangent tracks for deficiencies to determine if viable as a short-term solution and realigning to be straight, evaluating opportunities to realign port lead track to soften tight curves, replacing or upgrading approximately 30 turnouts connecting customer spur tracks to the lead track that do not comply with the latest railroad requirements.
Deliverables
Expected Outcomes
Performance Measure Table from Schedule G Page 11 of the Grant Agreement: freight movements, number of railcars that are received by the port quarterly, gross tons, the gross tonnage of material that is moved through the port quarterly.
