Grant Description
Award Purpose
The project reconstructs the Ports North Berth at Pier 1 which is near the end of its useful structural life and unable to adequately serve the growing needs of the port.
The project includes demolition and removal of existing material construction of approximately 32000 square feet of pier deck foundation pile caps and installation of 20 mooring bollards and 20 berthing fenders.
Activities to be performed
The project is a single component project to replace the critical berthing and mooring infrastructure on the north side of Pier 1 at the Port of Davisville in Rhode Island.
This project proposes full reconstruction of an area of Pier 1 that is approximately 3000 square feet running approximately 800 linear feet along the piers north face.
The new improvements are designed with a 50 year effective service life.
This work will reduce the stresses on the existing older structure that will remain significantly extending the life of the overall Pier 1 structure.
The specific elements of the project are further detailed below element 1 includes demolition and disposal of approximately 32000 square feet of existing pier including, but not limited to concrete pile caps concrete deck berthing and mooring structures and appurtenances and demolition and disposal of over 1300 existing timber piles.
Element 2 includes installation of approximately 156 steel pipe piles and installation of new concrete pile bent caps deck and curbing.
Element 3 includes replacement of the critical berthing and mooring infrastructure including the installation of eighteen 18 100 ton bollards two 2 150 ton bollards and twenty 20 high capacity foam filled fenders.
Deliverables expected outcomes performance measure table from Schedule G page 11 of the grant agreement.
