Grant Description
Purpose: The Center for Simulated Environments and Experiences in STEM (SEE STEM) at Mississippi State University aims to develop a highly skilled workforce proficient in emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality and smart IoT sensors.
The center will foster interdisciplinary collaboration in science, engineering, and design, creating immersive and interactive experiences to engage diverse K-12 audiences.
Activities to be performed: The SEE STEM Center will establish an immersive theater to showcase Mississippi State University's STEM research through high-tech displays.
The project includes developing curricula integrating VR/AR and smart sensor technologies, facilitating interdisciplinary research, and conducting outreach programs to attract and inspire the next generation of STEM innovators.
Key activities involve building and equipping the immersive theater with advanced VR/AR and motion capture systems, creating interactive educational content and demonstrations, conducting workshops and training sessions for K-12 students and teachers, and integrating emerging technologies into academic programs and public engagement initiatives.
Expected outcomes: The SEE STEM Center is expected to enhance STEM education and public engagement by providing immersive learning experiences.
The project will produce a pipeline of skilled professionals proficient in cutting-edge technologies, contributing to the broader STEM workforce.
