Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to establish a test bed for researching, testing, developing, and evaluating technologies to allow for a fully connected transportation system, a 21st century mobility testbed, centered at the Texas A&M-RELLIS campus in Bryan, TX.
Activities to be performed: An advisory committee for the 21st century mobility test bed will be created to develop the website and technology transfer.
The researchers will develop the concept of operations (CONOPS) plan and prototype for an integrated transportation management hub (ITM HUB) as well as a framework for the widespread deployment of the ITM HUB concept.
Researchers will conduct research, testing, and evaluation of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and innovative services in linking into the ITM HUB.
The project will also include the promotion of workforce development and STEM outreach activities to K-12 students in addition to undergrad and graduate students.
Expected outcomes: The researchers are developing the ITM HUB and a framework for CAVs and other systems to interact and share data through the ITM HUB.
A website will be developed and maintained describing the functions, as well as workshops, training programs, courses, certificates, and STEM outreach activities.
Intended beneficiaries: The ITM HUB and the deployment framework can be used by researchers working to develop new and connected transportation networks in cities across the state and country.
The local residents in and around Texas A&M-RELLIS will benefit from having a network of connected vehicles feeding data through the ITM HUB and providing better real-time information about the roads in the area.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does not intend to subaward funds.
