Grant Description
Purpose: To enhance and expand the Jackson Estuarine Lab (JEL) in the School for Marine Science and Ocean Engineering.
Activities to be performed: This project will expand the facility footprint by approximately 2,150 sq ft. and transform 1,084 square feet of antiquated lab space. The expansion will feature two high bays for vessel and buoy work and structural components for research, dive lockers with showers, a meeting room, adjacent offices above the high bays, and a new facility entrance. A new minibus for transporting students to the JEL and other field trips is included in the project.
Expected outcomes: The project will address the rapidly growing needs of the water quality lab.
Intended beneficiaries: The public, staff, and students will benefit from the JEL renovation, located at Adams Point on the Great Bay in Durham, New Hampshire. The University of New Hampshire is a public academic institution.
