Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Rhode Island Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.
Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include:
Provide technical assistance for digital skills integration into workforce training, education, small business support, and covered population-serving systems statewide;
Invest in covered population-serving ecosystems to ensure all geographic regions have access to comprehensive digital inclusion services;
Incorporate online privacy and cybersecurity skill-building in all digital inclusion services;
Explore new family-sustaining career opportunities for covered population residents to deliver digital inclusion services;
Identify and support partner organizations to provide devices, preparation and refurbishment; and help desk and technical support;
Coordinate with Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) on efforts to bring connectivity to the state's correctional facilities.
Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in:
Increase in covered population residents trained in digital skills programs;
Increased number of covered population residents who own large-screen, internet-enabled devices;
Increased number of Rhode Islanders accessing government services online and accessing state benefits and resources.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Rhode Island and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.
