Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the South Carolina Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.

Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include hosting related activities, building educational resources, and developing marketing materials for a Cybersecurity Awareness Month to be held annually, digital skills training, various life-essential training opportunities in such areas as personal finance, healthcare, and education, and development of a device recycling and refurbishment program to support distribution to covered households.

Expected outcomes: The proposed award will use Capacity Grant Program funding to realize its vision for digital equity and to implement activities and strategies identified in the State Digital Equity Plan.

The proposed projects will result in better access to devices, and increased confidence level in safe and effective internet use.

Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of South Carolina and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.

Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
