Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: Construct/extend safety area.
This grant is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to increase the federal share to 100 percent for the Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
Activities to be performed/expected outcomes: This project awards a State Block Grant Program grant to the State of North Carolina to administer Airport Improvement Program sub-awards for nonprimary airports within the state.
This project constructs Runway 6/24 safety area at the 24 end to enhance safety.
The FAA worked with the nation's 14 CFR Part 139 certificated airports to complete all practicable improvements to runway safety areas prior to the deadline of December 31, 2015.
However, some airports, including this one, continue to pursue further improvements as they become feasible.
This grant includes funding for Hickory Regional (HKY), located in the 14th Congressional District in North Carolina in the total amount of $11,757,566.
