Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Nebraska Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.
Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include using outreach, advocacy, and education, increase the number of broadband providers in Nebraska offering affordable plans for low-income households; development or expansion of programs which provide digital skills training and support to covered populations and support efforts by Nebraska hospitals, healthcare providers, associations, and other stakeholders to increase the use of telehealth in Nebraska.
Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in increased equity and access to technology for learning throughout the state; improved digital literacy skills of Nebraskans; strengthened community-school partnerships as a resource for digital learning opportunities; increased access to healthcare in underserved areas and reducing health disparities; strengthened capacity and capability for emergency preparedness and response; and increased access to essential services such as banking, government services, and civic and social engagement activities.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Nebraska and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO STATES AND U.S. TERRITORIES TO IMPLEMENT THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANS DEVELOPED PURSUANT TO THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM. THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
