Overview
Grant Description
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to implement the Montana Digital Equity Plan developed pursuant to the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program.
Activities to be performed: The proposed project activities include: Montana Over the Phone (OPI) & Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) services to underserved Montana population; Montana School for the Deaf & Blind (MSDB) facility broadband access upgrades to support distance learning across Montana; expansion of the Last Mile prison coding and web development educational program for inmates; Montana Department of Labor and Industries and Department of Public Health and Human Services portal kiosks provided in rural frontier locations statewide to connect Montanans to workforce development and other essential services through the Montana Prosperity Portal.
Expected outcomes: The proposed projects will result in: expansion of Last Mile prison coding and web development programs; DLI and DPHHS portal kiosks will be used to provide online accessibility and inclusivity, digital skills, and device availability for covered populations; increase Montanans having access to several device options to help the state meet its health goals, especially telehealth.
Intended beneficiaries: Residents of the State of Montana and principally unserved and underserved covered populations statewide.
Subrecipient activities: The recipient does plan to subaward funds. The purpose is for implementing the DE Plan activities.

TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO STATES AND U.S. TERRITORIES TO IMPLEMENT THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANS DEVELOPED PURSUANT TO THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM. THE STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM NOFO ALSO ESTABLISHES A COMPETITIVE PROGRAM TO MAKE BOTH STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AND STATE DIGITAL EQUITY CAPACITY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS AVAILABLE TO NATIVE ENTITIES TO CARRY OUT DIGITAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION ACTIVITIES CONSISTENT WITH THE DIGITAL EQUITY ACT.
