Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to reconstruct the runway lighting, reconstruct the taxiway lighting, perform obstruction marking/lighting/removal, rehabilitate the taxiway, reconstruct the airport beacon, rehabilitate the apron, install perimeter fencing not required by 49 CFR 1542, reconstruct the snow removal equipment building, construct/extend/improve safety area, rehabilitate the runway, and install miscellaneous NAVAIDs.

Activities to be Performed/Expected Outcomes:
This project involves extending the runway 15/33 safety area to 3,580 feet to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards. This improvement will enhance safety at the airport. Additionally, 820 feet of the existing perimeter fencing will be reconstructed to deter access by unauthorized persons and vehicles onto the airfield. The taxiway Alpha lighting system, which has reached the end of its useful life, will be reconstructed to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards. The existing runway 15/33 lighting system, as well as the existing airport rotating beacon, will also be reconstructed due to reaching the end of their useful lives. Furthermore, 3,100 feet of runway 15/33 will be rehabilitated to maintain the structural integrity of the gravel surface. The existing taxiway Alpha gravel surface will be rehabilitated for 305 feet to extend its useful life. Additionally, 6,140 square yards of the existing main apron gravel surface will be rehabilitated to maintain its structural integrity. An airport hazardous tree obstruction will be removed to mitigate a significant adverse operational impact. The airport's wind cone and segmented circle, which no longer meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards, will be replaced. Lastly, the existing 2,400 square foot snow removal equipment building will be reconstructed as it has reached its useful life.

Non-14 CFR Part 139 certificated airports, including this one, were not subjected to the runway safety area deadline of December 31, 2015. However, some airports, including this one, continue to pursue further improvements as they become feasible.
