Grant Description
Purpose: Construct/extend safety area; reconstruct runway lighting; reconstruct taxiway lighting; install wind cone/segmented circle; rehabilitate access road; reconstruct airport rotating beacon; rehabilitate taxiway; rehabilitate apron; rehabilitate runway.

Activities to be performed/expected outcomes: This project acquires and installs a new segmented circle, primary wind cone, and supplemental wind cone navigational aids to provide pilots with critical airfield information.

This project reconstructs the taxiway A lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life and requires reconstruction to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.

This project reconstructs the existing runway 3/21 lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life and requires reconstruction to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.

This project rehabilitates 258 feet of the existing gravel taxiway A to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris to extend its useful life.

This project rehabilitates 3,680 feet of existing gravel runway 3/21 to maintain the structural integrity and extend its useful life.

This project rehabilitates 4,200 feet of the existing airport access road to extend its useful life.

This project rehabilitates 4,250 square yards of the existing main apron pavement to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.

This project replaces one existing airport rotating beacon that has reached the end of its useful life.

This project widens and extends runway 3/21 safety area to 150 feet by 3,800 feet to enhance safety.

Non-14 CFR Part 139 certificated airports were not subject to the runway safety area deadline of December 31, 2015, and some airports, including this one, continue to pursue further improvements as they become feasible.

Intended beneficiary: This grant will provide federal funding for airports associated with Nightmute, Alaska.
