Grant Description
This award funds the approved 2023-24 Public Health AmeriCorps programs, as listed on the approved program and funding summary charts. No member may enroll prior to the approved start date of the member enrollment period. Your 2023-24 regulatory match is 0%.
The Clinica MonseƱor Oscar A. Romero (Clinica Romero) will have 20 AmeriCorps members to provide outreach, health education/training, and navigation of health care service activities for historically disenfranchised and underserved populations in LA County, CA. Specifically, the following neighborhoods of each clinic location: the Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights locations will have 6 members each, and the other sites, Montebello, Van Nuys, San Fernando Valley, and Canoga Park, will have two members at each. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing access to preventative and primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care services by participating in or organizing at least three community events monthly, including health fairs and patient education classes. The AmeriCorps members will leverage 60 volunteers who will engage in facilitating health education workshop/trainings and COVID-19 vaccination community events. The AmeriCorps investment will be matched with $456,246 in public funding from the LA County Department of Public Health.
iFoster will have 100 AmeriCorps members serving part-time who will help vulnerable Californians access healthcare services in the Capitol Region and Los Angeles County. At the end of the first program year, AmeriCorps members will be responsible for assisting 100,000 people schedule medical appointments and receive access to needed care and vaccinations. The AmeriCorps investment of $1,439,675 will be matched with $957,775 in private funding.
The Sewa International, Inc will have 32 AmeriCorps members who will serve the community to bring preventive, awareness, and first response activities on mental health issues for youth and adults (11 to 75 years) in Santa Clara, Contra Costa, Alameda, and San Joaquin counties of California. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for serving 1600 individuals. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 10 volunteers who will be engaged in community awareness sessions. The AmeriCorps investment of $574,937 will be matched with $136,613, $0 in public funding, and $136,613 in private funding.
