Project Title Name: BAMA Distance (Diversity and Inclusion Stance) Project
Proposed Number of Participants Who Start Training: 60-80 participants
Summary of Grant Purpose and Employment and Training Activities Offered:
The purpose of the BAMA Distance is to increase the number of nurse educators from the current population of BSN-prepared nurses from underserved communities in Alabama to earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a Nursing Education specialty. This goal will be achieved through partnerships between the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing, two (2) historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and four (4) additional academic institutions with large nursing student populations from underserved communities. In addition, BAMA Distance will incorporate paid internships with wages from the paid internship paid by employer partners directly to the BSN-prepared nurses from underserved communities who participate in BAMA Distance.
